When & Where

Would you like me to teach you how to sail?
Go then and build a skiff or a boat;
when you have made it, throw it into the sea,
it will carry you to beautiful Venice!

( old Venetian song )

Tall water in St. Mark Square
Acqua Alta in Piazza San Marco
Vustu che mi te insegna a navegar?
Vate a far una barca o una batela;
co ti l'a fata, butila in mar,
la te condurą a Venexia bela!

(antica villotta veneziana)

Whether you arrive from the mainland, crossing the lagoon in the train by the railway bridge, or moor in the heart of the city from the sea and disembark from a steamboat in the Pool of San Marco or at the Zattere, the vision of Venice is an enchantment: ever, in any season.

We suggest you to visit this incomparable city in winter time, when it shows its real aspect, in a bright sunny day or wrapped in a veil of mist, or under a drizzling rain and, why not?, also with the high tide!

In Autumn and Winter you may have the opportunity to experience the Venetian way of life, away from the usual summer crowdings, crossing " campielli " and walking along " calli " immersed in a peaceful silence, the inhabitants being absorbed in their everyday life.

You may visit museums, churches and palaces without submitting to fatiguing queues, and have the considerable opportunity to get an accommodation for about half the high-season charges.

All restaurants offer better service, and you may defer lunching or dining in tranquillity, enjoying superb seafood dishes or even, as we suggest, simply standing up in a " bacaro " ( typical venetian tavern ) sipping an "ombra " ( glass of wine - 1/10 liter ) and eating " cicheti " ( typical venetian mixed snacks: meatballs,
boiled eggs with caper and anchovy, cheese and ham and much more at the " Venetian way ").

WHAT TO VISIT
Venezia-Canaletto
Veduta del Canal Grande (Canaletto)

Every single corner in Venice is worth a visit, but doing that would take a very long holiday. For short trips we recommend you will not miss:

- Piazza San Marco, with the Church of San Marco, Saint Patron of Venice, the Ducal Palace and the Correr Museum.
- Rialto: the highest place in Venice, with its famous bridge offering a splendid sight of the Canal Grande, the picturesque fishmarket and the vegetable market.
- Accademia delle Belle Arti ( Academy of Art ).
- Church of the Frari, where is the famous painting " The Ascension " by Titian, and where Antonio Canova ( the best Italian sculptor of XVIII century ) is buried.
- Scuola di San Rocco ( San Rocco School of Art ), artistic laboratory of the famous painter Tintoretto.

We wish you can make your stay in Venice an unforgettable experience, agreeable and..repeatable!
